Oakland Goes Outdoors & OUSD Celebrate 1,000th Student Outdoor Experience with Redwood Park Trip during Earth Week

Oakland Goes Outdoors (OGO), an important District partner, will celebrate its 1,000th outdoor learning experience on April 23 by taking more than 100 eighth grade students from Frick United Academy of Language to Redwood Regional Park.

Since launching in 2018, OGO has expanded from a small pilot into a districtwide initiative that provides thousands of students with curriculum-aligned outdoor experiences during the school day. To date, more than 18,000 students have participated, with more than 6,200 served in the 2024–25 school year alone across 23 school sites.
